What's Up In November 2020

I only got to write this entry today as there are lot's of things I need to settle. So here's what happened in November 2020.

1. The first thing that came up to my mind is something that had happened near the end of November. Dad passed away on the 26th November peacefully at one of the hospitals in Klang Valley. He was buried in his hometown in Johore.

2. This month, my place is under partial lockdown. Even though shops remained open, but travel restrictions even to other districts and states are in force. I need to obtain clearance from my local police station before going back to my hometown, the day passed away.

3. Even visiting Dad at the hospital was something difficult. He was admitted on the 7th November, he was fine and strong back then. Laughing and joking.

4. I stayed a week at my hometown accompanying mom.

5. I need to manage a lot of things after Dad passed away. Still in the middle of it.

What's Up in October 2020

Hi there, wazzup. It's the 3rd day in November. Raining. Everytime it rains in November, I will see some of my friends who are obsessed in rock music post this 'November Rain' on their whatsapp status.

Here's what happened to me for October.

1. My place is being locked down again by the government due to Covid 19. It's not the same as our first nationwide lockdown. This is one is a bit more relaxed but still we can't cross over the state without any valid reason. Approval must be obtained first.

2. This lockdown had resulted in all of our classes being conducted online. The first time ever, first class was online.

3. Dad had been diagnosed with some serious illness. But he is still okay and going strong.

4. Dad had removed his wrist cast. Unfortunately, one of the patient at the hospital was diagnosed with Covid 19. The hospital only found this out days later.

5. As Dad was required to do a small operation on his illness diagnosed on the day of his wrist cast removal, he needs to be quarantined at the hospital pending his covid 19 result test.

6. At time of the writing, Dad is still in the quarantine ward waiting for the result. We do expect a negative result as it is almost 14 days since his first contact with the positive patient and there's no symptom. He is 76 years old.

7. This round of lockdown do have some impact on me as I had to do a lot of work and most of the work need to be done at the office. We were required to WFH until the end of October where permission are required first before going to the office.

8. First time ordering books for the kids online at BookXcess. The price is cheap, the delivery was super fast.

9. Bought some things at IKEA, among them a reading LED light for my daughter. I use a personal shopper for the shopping.

10. Earlier this month, I bought my self a budget Samsung Tablet A7. I sold my previous Tab to a work colleague. The reason I upgraded is because Tab A7 has bigger RAMS and storage. And it is worth every single penny spent.

What's Up In August and September 2020

Here I go again, it's nearly the end of September 2020, and I am writing on things that were up in August.

1. I now joined the Android TV frenzy. 50 inch Panasonic HX650 tv is now mine. Bought it without discount as it is a very new model. Now I watch Netflix on TV and some of its 4k content are marvellous.

2. Injured my left ankle early September during my weekly futsal session. After 3 weeks, recovering almost 85% but there's still some bump on the ankle.

3. Attend Arduino training. Its a robotic programming thing.

4. Dad crack his left wrist. Was hospitalized for a day. Went back to see him with my son. My daughter and wife did not go along with me as my daughter had caught flu and cough. Brought along my PS4 and my son really enjoy playing it at his granny's house.

5. A more relaxed ruling during Covid 19. Will see the reopening back of universities.

6. Finally changed my decoder to Astro Ultra BOX. Lotsa FREE contents on Astro VOD. Smooth like butter using VOD on this Ultra Box.

7. Now I am helping my pa and ma paying their bills thru online. Save them a lot of hassle in going to the post office.

What's Up in July 2020

Hi all, back again.

What's Up July 2020?

As I had posted what's up till mid July, I will just continue from mid to end July.

Not much for some 15 days duration.

1. Just return back from a short vacay at Genting. Last I visited Genting was around 2015. Lot of changes. Went to GPO but I do think it's more or less the same as Mitsui. JPO is slighthy better.

2. Bought another Gshock. This time it's square shaped and bluetooth enable for time accuracy.

3. Sabah will have their own election.

4. Setting my eyes on Swatch, saw it's boutique at iCity Mall. Love it but a bit reluctant to buy it.

5. New problem for my Note 9 Junk after the FOC Display. Now its the charging port. Always say moisture detected. Luckily I still have my wireless charging dock. Now after my Note 10 Lite warranty ends, will buy a iPhone. Monthly Samsung updates is ruining every single thing.

That's all for a 15 days span.

What's Up In June and Mid July 2020

Hi All,

Supposed to do this entry on things going on in June during the early week of July, but unfortunately, work comes first, so had a little bit delay. As now we are in the mid July, so I decided to extend the what's up post until mid July.

1. Home makeover. Finally decided to replace the asbestos ceiling to plaster ceiling, or as I found out at the internet, FALSE Ceiling. Now using down lights to replace fluorescent lamp.

2. I also decided to change my backyard cement flooring into tiles and then replaced the AJIA awning into roof tiles.

3. Finally our MCO are now in a very relaxed phase. My kids are slowly returning back to school.

4. Played badminton again, twice a week after the being permitted by our government. Futsal is back again as well. Will began playing back.

5. After feeling a bit large in the waist during MCO, it began to slowly shrink back especially when I began to sleep before 12 midnight plus returning back to my normal eating habit.

6. Now I am working from my office daily as I have been assigned an administrative job besides academic.

7. Got myself a Note 10 Lite. Finally accepted that my Note 9 problem can only be resolved by changing the hardware. I will contact Samsung to clarify this matter with them.

8. Felt much more tired with online meetings than face to face meeting. Had my first face to face meeting with my Boss and surprisingly I don't feel too tired compared with online meetings with him.

9. Finally my daughter had her own air conditioner at her room. I bought her the R32 inverter. And she got herself a new bed.

10. Me and my wife got ourselves a new mattress to replace our 10 year old mattress. We also got ourselves a new bed.

What's Up In May 2020

Hi all.

It's the 3rd day of June 2020. While waiting for a meeting via Google Meet, here are some things that had happened in May.

1. As mentioned in the previous entry, I got myself a new MBA 2020. It's been almost a month now using it and I must say it is an amazing experience. Got myself a Logitech Bluetooth mouse. Much cheaper than Apple's.

2. From HDD to SSD. May be a bit late, but I am still ahead of my friends. Managed to DIY changing my HP Desktop HDD to SSD. I did it all alone, from replacing the hardware till installing the OS and softwares.

3. Got myself another 120GB Verbatim SSD and an external case for it to be an external SSD.

4. Our MCO had been relaxed. We are now in the phase of Conditional MCO. Life is beginning to resume as usual, though with some tight SOP. I am still in the phase of the new normal; No more bringing the kids out strolling the shopping malls. In fact I myself tried to avoid these Malls. Since March, I only been to 3 malls and for only important reasons.

5. Tried buying online from Uniqlo. The experience was terrific, Chose click and collect but seeing the new covid SOP thing, might be easier to deliver it straight to my house.

6. Meeting via video conference is a norm.

7. Might be getting some loans. Not because I'm desperate but because I would like to make some house makeovers. Do have cash but I think paying installments is much more worth. Need to save the cash for rainy days.

8. Till then. Off to the meeting. Bye

March-April-Early May 2020

This 3 months had been a very difficult one.

1. We ended up our face to face classes suddenly and found ourselves in a weird situation. Not only us, but the whole world. It's lockdown, due to Covid-19 pandemic.

2. Everything changes now, to working at home, teaching online classes, doing work online.

3. Seeing me using my old Macbook Air 11 inch a lot more for online classes, meetings, work.

4. Spending time together with my family. As Malaysia was in school holiday mode when we decided to lockdown our nation, my family was in my wife's hometown. When I heard rumours saying we will be locked down, I decided to fetch my wife and kids back home, 48 hours before lockdown. And I know quite a number of people were stranded, separated between families. I just managed to fetch them back home.

5. Luckily my home internet connection was stable. Few weeks before lockdown I had connection issues and my ISP technicians came to solve the problem. It was actually technical issues from the connection behind my house.

6. Finally bought myself a new Macbook Air 2020 as it has larger screens, retina display,  bigger storage, bigger memory and faster processor than my previous Macbook 11inc Mid 2013. I had decided to use Mac as it is stable and most of my windows apps are now being supported by Mac.

7. During lockdown, my online purchase has increased a lot. First the shipment was punctual, then it became slow as more and more people are turning to online buying. Courier services were struggling to deliver.

8. During lockdown, found out that there are lotsa people who could not make ends meet especially those freelance. Two of my good neighbours are among them, luckily they survive on savings.

9. Early May, our lockdown restrictions were being relaxed, due to our ability to control the pandemic. Still receiving new cases and deaths. People are practicing the new norm.

10. May this evil Covid go away. Below is a work from home tip from UiTM. Please click to enlarge.

2020 Here I Come

Ooppss..it's almost end of January 2020. Just finished marking my student's final exams. Went to Bagan Lalang, one of beaches nearby, about an hour from my home. We stayed at Seri Malaysia Hotel. The place was okay, value for money and a short walk to the beach. We ate seafood.

Update of Me

Time has passed since I last visited. I've been so preoccupied with other things that I've forgotten about this blog. Many things ha...
